TheĀ sustainable development goalsĀ (SDGs) are a new, universal set of 17 goals, targets and indicators that UN member states will be expected to use to frame their agendas and political policies over the next 15 years.
The 17 Goals of SDGs are as below:
- End Poverty in all its forms everywhere
- End Hunger, achieve food security & improved nutrition & promote sustainable agriculture
- Ensure healthy lives & Promote well-being for all at all ages
- Ensure inclusive & equitable quality education & promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
- Achieve gender equality & empower all women and girls
- Ensure availability & sustainable management of water & sanitation for all
- Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable & energy for all
- Promote sustained, inclusive & sustainable economic growth, full & productive employment & decent work for all
- Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive & sustainable industrialization & forest innovation
- Reduce inequality within & among countries
- Make cities & human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient & sustainable
- Ensure sustainable consumption & production patterns
- Take urgent action to combat climate change & its Impacts
- Conserve & sustainably use the ocean, seas & marine resources for sustainable development
- Protect, restore & promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystem, sustainably manage forest, combat desertification, & halt & reverse land degradation & halt biodiversity loss
- Promote peaceful & inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all & build effective, accountable & inclusive institution at all levels
- Strengthen the means of implementation & revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development
In the Conference of SDGs from Afghanistan on behalf of CEN/CoAR Dr. Mohammad Naeem Salimee participated in both the discussion on the SDGs in the Colombia University & at UN Compound in New York for the UN 70th Anniversary from (October 21-26 / 2015)
